232. Paint Chips Star

Everytime I go to a hardware store I (try and remember to) take some paint chips with me to add to my collection of craft stuff. I went again today and -as I stood before the walls of paint- remembered that I had very early on in this project thought of making a star out of paint chips. So, here it is now:

They named the colours (starting with the bright green): apple, avocado, salbei, peppermint, plum, crocus, lavendel, aubergine, merlot - all in all a somewhat strange mixture of German and English as I just realised...

165. Woodworm Star

Well, I'm late with the post again - which is because I didn't finish this star yesterday. Lacking energy... But anyway, here it is now:

I took a photo of the table at the bar where I went last night with a friend. Then I added some more marks to the wood using photoshop to make this star.

162. Exams-Done-Celebration Star

Today, towards the end of my ninth semester, I took my very last exam at university. Now there's only the master's thesis left. This is just a little doodle for the occasion:

Nine points for nine semesters. Blue colours for feeling just a little blue. And no massively impressive star because there is still so much going on and to be organised that I don't feel very impressed at the moment. But things went well and if I take just a moment to really think about it all I'm truly glad this part of university is over. :)

130. Laugenstangen Not-Quite-Star

Wow, what a long, long night that was. So this post is a little late because I just fell into bed the moment I got home. Here's a star out of what might be called 'pretzel sticks' in English (they're 'Laugenstangen' - apparently a very German kind of bread), that I backed for a party yesterday:

Alright, while this image does not strike me as particularly star-like, it really was all I could manage - and that's all there is to it.

43. Year of the Stars

In the light of university lectures resuming today after the summer break (for me, that is - there are poor people who already had to start yesterday) , I realised I would soon need a new calendar for next year. Appointments dates and deadlines are going to cumulate over the next few weeks.
I had been on the lookout for a pocket calender for some time already but… well, I got to know myself over the past years so I am aware that this search is rather pointless. So I ended up bying the cheapest one I found of the right fromat and altered it:

Front

Back

Spine

Inside, I added some notable celestial events of next year (t.b.c.).

I seriously considerd redoing it all because I was quite unhappy with the front cover (I felt very clums with the paint brush and the far too thick white paint). But there's this thing about perfectionism, you know... unhealthy and all. I figured I could live with this version. Plus, I would have been very uncomfortable throwing away my first ever nine-pointed star. ;)

P.S.: Concerning its title: I am aware that my personal year of stars will end already in September 2012. However, 1. the larger portion of the project falls into next year, not this year; 2. I will begin next year with lots of stars on my mind; 3. who knows whether I will actually (be able to) stop after the 365th star?; and 4. who cares, anyway? :D
